CHRISTKINDLFEST RETURNS TO BARRINGTON WITH MORE VENDORS, FOOD, ENTERTAINMENT
(Barrington, IL ~ October 27, 2014)
ChristKindlFest will be returning to Barrington, December4-7, 2014. Downtown Barrington will be transformed into a small European village with festive holiday booths selling chocolates, pastries, ornaments, handcrafted items and more.
Entrance to the ChristKindlFest heated tent is free until 7pm, and entertainment throughout the day includes traditional German music, choirs, dance troupes, musicians and well known local bands. For children, there will be carousel rides, bumper cars, face painting, photo ops with reindeer and more. Bring food donations to the Fest and deposit in bins inside the main tent for distribution to the Barrington Food Pantry and Cuba Township Food Pantry. Throughout the Fest the Barrington High School Interact Club will be busy preparing 15,000 Merry Meals for distribution in Guatemala.
This year the number of holiday booths has grown to 20 local and worldwide vendors showcasing handcrafted and one-of-kind products. The heated tent has doubled in size to accommodate the stage for entertainment and food vendors serving international foods, beer, wine and Gluehwein, a traditional German hot, spiced wine.
In the evenings, the main stage in the tent will feature local bands including American English, Western Sky, Think Floyd USA, The Johnny Wagner Band, and the Chicago Red Hots. There will be a $10 cover charge for the evening entertainment after 7:00 pm. People interested in attending should visit www.barringtonfestivals.com/ckf2014 for performance dates, times, details and to purchase tickets in advance.
Sports fans won’t want to miss a chance to win a drawing for Bulls tickets on the rail where the Bulls enter the arena and see them play the world champion San Antonio Spurs on January 22, 2015. Attendees can also enter a drawing for a limited edition hand-pulled lithograph from Theodor Seuss Geisel’s original drawing done for the book How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1967).
The Fest takes place in the heart of downtown Barrington at the corner of Cook and Station Streets. Walking distance to the Metra Train station, visitors can take the train or park in the station lot near Spring and Station Street. A free trolley will be running between Barrington retailers and ChristKindlFest on Saturday.
ChristKindlFest runs from December 4th to 7th: Thursday 10 am to 11 pm, Friday and Saturday 10:00 am to midnight, and Sunday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Visit the website www.barringtonfestivals.com/ckf2014 for details.
